E-PERM Thoron Monitors work on the same principles as the E-PERM Radon Monitors. However, whereas the radon chamber is designed to exclude thoron by restricting the diffusion time, the thoron chamber has an enlarged diffusion area. This allows passive entry of both radon and thoron into the chamber. Accurate thoron measurements are achieved by deploying the E-PERM radon and thoron monitors in the dame location for the same time period and resolving the radon (Rn-222) and thoron (Rn-220) concentrations.
