What is the Neuro-4?

How does muscle stimulation work?
Short bursts of electrical impulses are sent into the muscles and nerves.  This produces a pleasant ticking and vibrating sensation.  As well as affecting the treatment area, it has a mild beneficial stimulation characteristic for the whole body that can help other conditions.

Are muscle stimulators safe?
Yes.  There have been no known cases of electric shock or tissue damage.  Unlike drugs, there are no reports of  any harmful side-effects.  You should use a muscle stimulator on the advice of a physician, physiotherapist, occupational therapist or rehabilitation nurse.

Who can’t use the Neuro-4?
If you have an implanted cardiac pacemaker, you cannot use a muscle stimulator.  You should not use a muscle stimulator if you are pregnant.  Also, a muscle stimulator should not be used when there is diagnosed active cancer present because of the tissue stimulation effect.  Adequate precautions should be taken in cases of suspected or diagnosed epilepsy. 

How is the Neuro-4 different from other muscle stimulators? 
The Neuro-4 represents a significant advancement in treatment methods and microelectronics.  Unlike conventional muscle stimulators or TENS units, it is a sequential frequency stimulator.  That is, stimulation is given in a sequence of different frequencies according to a pre-determined program.  The frequencies of the impulses simulate the naturally - occurring nerve signals that normally control the affected muscles.

What types of arthritis pain will it help?

Does the Neuro-4 give pain relief?
Yes.  The Arthritis Treatment Card gives moderate pain relief as an important secondary benefit.  For stronger pain control, you should also use the Pain Relief Treatment Card.  The Neuro-4  has four channels of pain relief available, with three different programs.  These unique sequential-frequency TENS programs are the most effective available and stronger than most other TENS units.

Do I need to use the Neuro-4 in a clinic?
No, but If you are visiting a clinic, the therapist can show you how to use the stimulator, where to place the electrodes and how to set the amplitude.  Because the treatments need to be performed daily, you will need to use the Neuro-4 at home. There are no settings for you or the therapist to adjust.

Is the Neuro-4 compatible with laser therapy?
Yes. The laser directly interacts with the damaged tissue that causes the arthritic pain and increases the blood supply.  With certain lasers, such as in the treatment from our Biophoton scanning laser, healing times are significantly reduced due to the relatively high therapeutic dose.  In contrast, the Neuro-4 causes the rebuilding of muscle fibres that are needed to support the arthritic joint.

How long will treatment take?

How long is each treatment session?
